the burn: side shaves and mohawks

Bring on the festivals!  For Burning Man this year my rock star hippy bad ass friends decided it was time to shave it all off and transform into the alter egos of their dreams for a week on the playa.  And with the help of me... they got lucky and we did a little house call haircut.  And the results are as shown above.

Alysha decided on the ever so feiece and trendy side shave on her long wavy hair.  For a girl with the attitude and guts as she has this cut was sure to please.  (Note: The side shave can be one of the most liberating yet frightening haircuts to recieve for a woman... only second to shaving it all off to "start over".  It is something i have toyed with for myself but never dared take the plunge as i am on a 4 year quest to FINALLY grow my hair out.  The folly of a hairdresser will always be taking the shears to our own heads over and over and over again.)  Alysha took on this cut and has since rocked it with style.  And for a chick who hula hoops by night and "moonlights" as a country club waitress by day, its the perfect haircut for her dueling personalities.  The coolest thing about a side shave is that it exposes the daredevil in her... and then with just a flip of her hair the shave is covered revealing her long luscious locks.

Alex's mohawk was absolutely major.  He came to me with a bit of a shaggy mane... and wanted to reveal his inner rockstar ( Alex is a drummer in a Portland band called Just People.)  His mohawk haircut was only complete when we added his red dyed tips.  The final look was one all his friends and fans were absolutely dying over.  A look he would love to be returning to again and maybe very soon.

Well guys since i didn't get to join you in the playa this summer.  I am glad i could be a part of their burning man magic.
