the burn: side shaves and mohawks

Bring on the festivals!  For Burning Man this year my rock star hippy bad ass friends decided it was time to shave it all off and transform into the alter egos of their dreams for a week on the playa.  And with the help of me... they got lucky and we did a little house call haircut.  And the results are as shown above.

Alysha decided on the ever so feiece and trendy side shave on her long wavy hair.  For a girl with the attitude and guts as she has this cut was sure to please.  (Note: The side shave can be one of the most liberating yet frightening haircuts to recieve for a woman... only second to shaving it all off to "start over".  It is something i have toyed with for myself but never dared take the plunge as i am on a 4 year quest to FINALLY grow my hair out.  The folly of a hairdresser will always be taking the shears to our own heads over and over and over again.)  Alysha took on this cut and has since rocked it with style.  And for a chick who hula hoops by night and "moonlights" as a country club waitress by day, its the perfect haircut for her dueling personalities.  The coolest thing about a side shave is that it exposes the daredevil in her... and then with just a flip of her hair the shave is covered revealing her long luscious locks.

Alex's mohawk was absolutely major.  He came to me with a bit of a shaggy mane... and wanted to reveal his inner rockstar ( Alex is a drummer in a Portland band called Just People.)  His mohawk haircut was only complete when we added his red dyed tips.  The final look was one all his friends and fans were absolutely dying over.  A look he would love to be returning to again and maybe very soon.

Well guys since i didn't get to join you in the playa this summer.  I am glad i could be a part of their burning man magic.

newest hair color obsession: MAGENTA

oh my wow. Bold color hues are very in this season... blues, teals, light pinks.  Blame it on Nicki Manaj or Rhianna but this is no accident i think bright colors are here to stay at least for a while.   This has gotta be my most favorite latest color obsession.

Magenta hair rocks... a rad hue of darl pink with a touch of purply blueness mixed in. This color is rockin.  I found these three photos of 3 different totally fashionable ladies on the internet... and oh my have i been craving doing a head of hair JUST like this.  It's very edgy yet whimsical.  Kinda reminds me of a shade the lead singer of A FINE FRENZY would be wearing.  It especially looks like a very sexy bold fashion statement with the blunt fringe and wavy tousled ends.  Gonna see if my little sister wil let me paint her hair this lovely color.  If not i will definately be in the market to find a client that will let me beautify them with this fun summer style?

white russian.

Sent another beautiful platinum blonde out into the world today.  It was exciting to take emily from a highlighted sandy yellow blonde to this bright solid platinum color! People see this color on her and say it's transformed her from a california summer blonde to and exotic russian beauty.  She was so pleased with the results.

now offering : feather hair extensions

One part bohemien chic and one part urban hipster...feathering is the hottest fashion/beauty trend to hit 2011.  Starting as a saturday market, flower child service in college towns of both Boulder, Colorado and Eugene, Oregon this innovative hair accesory is showing up in even the most fashion forward urban cities.  The fashion blog communtiy is craving this trend as girls in LA and San Francisco are embracing this extensions full force.  While in New York the feathers are being offered to manhattan socialites in salons and favorite high end fashion botiques.

It was only a matter of time before i got to experience these colorful hair locks first hand.  And that's when i saw them tousled into my co-worker Kristinas sexy sexy hair.  The turquoise feathers popped next to her copper colored tresses.  Wow.  That was when i knew i had to get these into the salon asap.  I mean who doesn't wanna play indian princess every now and again?

Depending on each clients desired results you can keep the look very subtle or add an extreme feather touch to the mane.  Colors range from natural tones (white/tans/blacks/auburns/etc) to fashion colors (red/pink/blue/green/orange/etc).  For a natural look with a bit of flair choose a tone close to your current haircolor and we'll apply only a few strands.  This look can be a bold yet classy look as the extensions are blended well with the rest of your neatly groomed hair.   For clients looking for a much more fiesty extravagant feather extension look you can choose as many color combinations and vary the amount of extensions or the placement for whatever pop you'd like.  The possibilities are endless... and you are guaranteed to feel at least a little wild and fun and a lot sexy.

The feathers themselves can be washed, combed, blowdried, flatiron and even curled with your normal day to day styling routine.  Extensions can be a night out on the town experience or can last any where from a few weeks to a few months depending on your own personal care and upkeep. Feathers may be reused when still in good condition.

Pricing :

$10 per extension when added on to any hair service.

$10 set up fee + $10 per extension (if not added to another hair service)
